With a portfolio of more than 50 leading global, regional and local coffee and tea brands, the group distributes a wide range of high-quality and innovative coffee and tea products. JDE Peet's operates in more than 100 countries and sold approximately 130 billion cups of coffee and tea in 2019. Through a number of indirect holding companies, the company acts as the parent company of JACOBS DOUWE EGBERTS BV (JDE) and Peet's Coffee & Tea , Inc. (Peet's).

The food industry is divided into beverages, food and foodstuffs. The beverages industry includes companies engaged in the production and distribution of beverages. These range from soft drinks and beer to spirits. Especially in the beer industry has been engaged in successful cross-border consolidation in the last few years, allowing the market be dominated by a handful of beer producers. In the food industry, companies which are focussing on the production of foods such as dairy, frozen foods, fast food meals, baby food and confectionery.
